Being dyslexic before it was diagnosed as an educational handicap, I detested writing and spelling, while excelling in art, math and science. Always having to work diligently to achieve in school gave me the tenacity to succeed against insurmountable odds.

I was raised in Florida’s sun and surf. Often I feel like I have salt water running through my veins, since I need to visit the ocean at least once a year. After college I taught high school art in Florida and married. Several years later we moved to Colorado, and I continued my career in education and taught art and technology. In 2008 I retired, to pursue my passion for travel. I still substitute teach to fund my world adventures. I am extremely fortunate to have experienced 76 countries and all 7 continents.

My family traveled the United States of America and instilled in me a love for beauty, and my grandfather Adolph Swanson who was an adventurer, teacher and craftsman, assisted in forming my love for drawing, paining and photography. I have tried to follow in your worthy footsteps.

My many years as a “Yellowstone Savage” another name for a concessionaire employee, helped increase my environmental awareness and love of nature. Adding to my environmental understanding were several trips to the Central, South American and African Rainforests. Two adventures of a lifetime to Antarctica and Svalbard, Norway forever changed my views on environmental preservation. Plus, my volunteer work with several environmental education groups has enhanced my passion for wild animals and the natural world.

My husband, cats and I currently reside in rural Colorado, but we make frequent trips to sunny Florida.
